Istrian Script

Istri are a draconid race from the Otherworld, somethings also called kobolds or goblin. They live underground and are often considered unrefined, crude and dishonest. While they are indeed opportunists and can often be found among thieves and dubious traders, they are also ingenious engineers and have developed a rather elegant and sophisticated script.

Istrian script comprises vertical syllables that are written from left to right. A syllable has a vowel at the beginning and/or end with an arbitrary amount of consonants in the middle. While a single vowel can make up a syllable, a single consonant can not. This makes it impossible to properly transcript a lot of foreign words, thus a placeholder vowel was introduced. This placeholder is mute and may be ignored when transcribing Istrian script to Latin script.

Istrians use sepearate vowels for long and short pronounciation, as well as variations of the vowel "a". There is no short "a" in Istrian. The letters "c" and "q" do not exist and are thus substituted with "k" and "kw". "Y" does only exist as vowel.
